19th of February - Chairman of the National Assembly of Armenia Alen Simonyan brought a lawsuit against the LLC 'Media-Hub' and journalist Vahe Makaryan in the Yerevan court of general jurisdiction demanding that they be forced to refute statements which he considers slanderous, and that they pay a total of 1 million dirhams (more than $2,500) in compensation. The reason for the lawsuit was an article on Mediahub.am titled 'Alen Simonyan has deceived Nikol Pashinyan and society: parliament to go back on plans to reduce number of courtesy cars'. According to the site, the mother and children of the Speaker travel in a luxury car which is paid for by the taxpayer, despite promises that the car would be removed from the budget. The plaintiff also issued a petition asking that assets belonging to the defendants to a total of 1 million dirhams be frozen. The case is under consideration.
