Maxim Tkachenko was filming near one of the local cathedrals, some of whose congregation had decided to convert to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. Another part of the congregation barricaded themselves in the territory of the cathedral and did not allow anyone in, including journalists. It was while filming this process at the gate of the cathedral that Maxim Tkachenko was hit on the hands and on the camera by an unknown person. The microphone broke off and was later returned to the journalist. The incident was reported to the police.
