On 18 May, employees of the Department of Financial Investigations searched the TUT.by editorial office, as well as the homes of the publication’s journalists and editors. Police first came to Maxim’s brother’s apartment, then to his country house, before finally going to the home of Gaiko’s wife’s family. All of Gaiko’s equipment and savings were taken. The family was also unable to withdraw cash from their bank cards. Gaiko was then taken away to the Financial Investigations Department of the State Control Committee for interrogation. Later that evening, having been interrogated, he was released.
