The editor-in-chief of the Tut.by portal, Marina Zolotova, was forcibly removed from Belarus after being released from prison on 13 December. The journalist was freed as part of a group of 123 prisoners following a visit to Minsk by a representative of the US President, John Cole. They were taken out of Belarus to Ukraine by bus against their will, with no opportunity to choose otherwise. On 18 December, the former political prisoners were transferred to Poland and Lithuania. Marina Zolotova found herself in forced exile in Warsaw.
