In Shymkent, animal rights activists were outraged by the work of the trapping service. They appealed to the editorial office of the TV channel Atameken Business and asked for a journalistic investigation. The film crew — journalist Marina Nizovkina and cameraman Vitaly Zaintinov — went to the state communal enterprise, where stray dogs were kept. However, the employees of the shelter did not allow the media representatives to enter the territory. They also forbade filming through the fence and started poking sticks at the cameraman. Despite the intervention of the police, the journalists were not allowed into the territory of the animal shelter.
