Journalist and human rights lawyer Marianna Gurina is a defendant in a civil suit for the protection of the business reputation of the former director of the Children’s Home in Ust-Kamenogorsk G. Daniyarova. The ex-head of the Children’s Home demands «to acknowledge as false and defamatory the information disseminated in the video «Who’s in?» published on YouTube on October 13, 2020, and to recover KZT 1 million from the defendant on account of compensation for moral damage. «The defendant’s speech through the website contained libelous information against me, connected with accusations that I committed a grave offence (trafficking in minors)», — the lawsuit says. In the video, the name and surname of the plaintiff, her position, the location of the children’s home are not named.
