On August 29, Maria Yepifanova received an Apple alert on her iPhone with a Latvian SIM card about a hacking attempt by «state-sponsored attackers». TV journalist Yevgeny Erlich and Novaya Gazeta Baltia correspondent Yevgeny Pavlov, who also live in Latvia, received the same alert. As in the case of the hacking of Meduza publisher Galina Timchenko’s iPhone, Pegasus spyware was probably used. On September 3, Yepifanova received an alert from Telegram that her account had been accessed from a Huawei device in Cairo.
