The Shipunovsky District Court of Altai Krai sentenced Maria Ponomarenko to one year and ten months in prison on charges of causing harm to a prison officer that was not dangerous to his health (Part 2 of Article 321 of the Criminal Code). She was also ordered to undergo compulsory outpatient psychiatric treatment. The reason for the new criminal prosecution was an accusation of assaulting two prison officers, one of whom was the head of the security department. With the new sentence, she has three more years to serve in prison. In court, Ponomarenko spoke about the violence and humiliation she was subjected to in the Biysk psychiatric hospital and in prison after being sentenced to six years for publishing an article about the bombing of the Drama Theater in Mariupol. The journalist attempted suicide in prison.
