Maksim Polyakov and many of his colleagues were subjected to a massive spam attack on their cell phones. They began receiving numerous calls and texts with registration confirmation codes from various services, including Gosuslugi, banks, and stores. Polyakov also reported an attempted hacking of his Telegram account. Journalists of TV Rain, Echo of Moscow, Mediazona, 7x7, The Village, and Republic, among others, reported such attacks.
