The head of the project Temirov Live Makhabat Tazhibek kyzy was sentenced to six years in prison for «calling for mass riots». The Leninsky District Court of Bishkek made this decision on October 10. The court also decided to hand over her minor son to the guardianship authorities. According to Ulan Seyitbekov, a lawyer for the convicted journalist, the child may be sent to an orphanage «if there are no close relatives». Makhabat Tazhtbek kyzy is the wife of Bolot Temirov, an investigative journalist and founder of Temirov Live, who was also prosecuted and deported from Kyrgyzstan. For 10 months, the journalist was held in a pre-trial detention centre together with other colleagues.
