Police officers handed Lukpan Akhmedyarov, editor-in-chief of the Ural Week newspaper, a summons to appear on March 1 for interrogation as part of a criminal case on disseminating information of extremist content through social networks. Radio Azattyk reporter Maria Melnikova also received the summons. Journalists regard this fact as obstruction of journalistic work since it was known that an unauthorized protest rally was supposedly scheduled for March 1. Akhmedyarov filed a complaint with the police department on this matter.
