On January 5, Lukpan was driving his car when he noticed a police car following him. His vehicle was stopped, and two men in plain clothes informed him that he was detained "for delivery". The journalist had not been given the summons before this, so there was no question of him being forcibly taken to the police, which could be used if he fails to appear voluntarily in response to a summons. Nevertheless, Akhmedyarov was detained. «I was told that there were several questions for me, – the journalist reported. – I spent several hours in the police station. Investigator Bigaliyev questioned me about my involvement in banned organizations. It is unknown in which case». Having finished the questioning, the investigator handed Akhmedyarov a summons for 4 PM on the same day. The case on which he was asked to come to the police was not specified in the summons.
