The Minsk City Court announced the verdict to the editor-in-chief of the portal TUT.by Maryna Zolotava and director of TUT BY MEDIA Liudmila Chekina. Judge Valiantsina Ziankevich sentenced them to 12 years of imprisonment in a general regime colony. The court found Chekina guilty under three articles of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus: Article 361 (calls for actions aimed at harming the national security of the Republic of Belarus), Article 243 (tax evasion), and Article 130 (incitement of hatred or discord). Liudmila Chekina was additionally fined 1,000 base amounts (BYN 37,000). The trial was held for almost two months in closed mode. A total of 37 court hearings were held.
