On October 1, Salihorsk-based public media outlet Leader-Press was forced to stop its activity. «It so happens that any material, truthfully covering events in the region or the country, can be declared extremist with all the ensuing consequences. In such a situation, we cannot risk our staff and are forced to stop the activities of the media outlet», — the editorial appeal to readers reads. Last year, the media outlet covered the presidential election and mass protests. In March 2021, the Leader-Press editorial board stopped printing the paper version of the newspaper. In June this year, law enforcers searched the flats of the newspaper’s founders.
