On her Facebook page, a freelance journalist from Gomel Larysa Shchiryakova said she is quitting the profession. She wrote that under the conditions of terror against the independent media, journalists simply cannot continue working inside the country. Earlier Shchiryakova worked for the Belsat TV channel. During this time, the authorities repeatedly oppressed her: detained her, kept her in a temporary detention centre for several days, confiscated her equipment, searched her home, threatened to take away her child, and fined her under the administrative article «for illegal production of media products».
