A criminal case has been opened in Russia against Circassian journalist and activist Larisa Tuptsokova under Part 2 of Article 282.2 of the Russian Criminal Code, concerning participation in an extremist organisation. The notification was sent to her parents’ residence in Maykop. The specifics of the case remain unknown. Tuptsokova has not lived in Russia for 14 years. She has linked the proceedings to her work with the Circassian Media project, which faced provocations in August, including the creation of a fake website for the “Circassian Cultural Center in Tbilisi” featuring publications attributed to her and her colleagues.
