On July 27, 2023, police detained journalists Lutfiye Zudiyeva and Kulamet Ibraimov. They were to cover a court hearing in the Supreme Court of Crimea in the case of the deputy chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People Nariman Dzhelyal and the Akhtemov brothers, accused by the Russian authorities of sabotage. Along with journalists, law enforcers detained 12 Crimean Tatars, among them relatives and friends of the accused. On July 28, 2023, Kulamet Ibraimov was charged with a repeated violation of Part 4 of Article 20.2.2.2 of the Code of Administrative Offences of the Russian Federation (organisation of mass simultaneous stay and (or) movement of citizens in public places, resulting in violation of public order). The court arrested him for five days.
