Ksenia Lutskina, the former journalist of the state-owned Belteleradiocompany, was sentenced to eight years of imprisonment. The Minsk City Court found her guilty of «conspiracy to seize power» (Part 1 of Article 357 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus). The verdict was passed by judge Tatsiana Falkouskaya. After the 2020 presidential election, the journalist resigned from state TV and joined the Coordinating Council. Together with her colleagues, she worked on an alternative TV project. Ksenia Lutskina was detained on December 22, 2020. According to the General Prosecutor’s Office, Lutskina was engaged in «concealment and distortion of real facts, escalation of protest activity, stimulation of a split in Belarusian society, formation of a negative opinion among people about the activities of state bodies». In the detention center, Ksenia’s health deteriorated: a tumor was growing in her brain and she needed treatment.
