The journalist was detained at the Polish–Belarusian border as she was returning home from holiday. At the Brest border crossing, KGB officers removed her from a scheduled bus for interrogation. After the interrogation and a check of the information on her mobile phone, the journalist was taken to the Moskovsky District Police Department in Brest, where an administrative report was drawn up and she was placed in a temporary detention facility for two days pending trial. On 30 January, the court found her guilty and imposed a fine. The court ruling used the standard wording — for the distribution of “extremist materials” (Article 19.11 of the Code of Administrative Offences of the Republic of Belarus).
