The correspondent of the newspaper My City Kristina Kobina and the newspaper’s founder Media Start 2012 LLP were defendants in a lawsuit for the protection of honor, dignity and business reputation of the head of Batys Su Arnasy JSC Anuar Arkenov. According to the court decision from April 6, the journalist and the newspaper founder must pay Arkenov KZT 320,000 (about USD 700) jointly — compensation of moral damage, the cost of a representative’s help in court and the cost of the court linguistic research. The court also ruled that the part of the headline stating that Anuar Arkenov was accused of embezzlement was false, defamatory and subject to refutation. The trial was initiated in connection with the publication «The Director of Batys Su Arnasy LLP was accused of embezzlement and his deputy — of drunkenness».
