The Tverskoy District Court in Moscow has fined RusNews journalist Konstantin Zharov 20,000 rubles for “violating the established procedure for organising or conducting a meeting, rally, demonstration, march, or picket” (Article 20.2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses). Zharov, along with two other journalists, was detained on July 22 while covering a solo picket outside the State Duma against a bill that would impose fines for searching extremist materials online. According to the police report, Zharov participated in the picket.
