The Kirovsky District Court of St. Petersburg sentenced Afghan refugee journalist Kobra Hassani to two years in a penal colony for attempted illegal border crossing and released her in the courtroom. The punishment was considered to have been served, taking into account the time the journalist spent in pre-trial detention centre. The next day, the Krasnoselsky District Court of St. Petersburg cancelled the order to deport Hassani to Afghanistan.
