On January 27, Khurshid Daliyev, director of the online media Human.uz, was detained. He is the administrator of the Telegram channel Kompromatuzb, whose publications were the reason for the detention. Human.uz’s office has been sealed and its doors broken into. The website has been blocked. The office of Human.uz was searched and five employees of the media were taken to an unknown location. According to the State Security Service, a criminal case has been opened under Paragraph C of Part 2 of Article 165 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan (extortion by prior conspiracy by a group of persons / punishable by 5 to 10 years’ imprisonment) on the basis of an appeal from a certain citizen.
