Tajik journalist Khurshed Fozilov, who wrote news and reports for independent media in the Sughd Region, was detained by unknown persons on March 6 at the building of the Department of Labour, Migration, and Employment in Penjikent. The journalist was taken to an unknown location. The next day four men in civilian clothes took away the computer on which he was working but they refused to say where the journalist was. The journalist’s relatives confirmed that they could not find him overnight and do not know where he is or what condition he is in. «We have appealed to all city authorities, no one is saying specific words. Through several people we learnt that he is in the city office of the State Committee for National Security. When we went to this office, they confirmed that Khurshed is there and will answer after the interrogation», — explained one of the journalist’s relatives. Khurshed Fozilov was previously suspected of cooperating with the once-active news website Akhbor.com
