Khadisha Akayeva was detained with force while covering a rally of supporters of the Democratic Choice of Kazakhstan movement. She was detained while filming the arrest of blogger Daniyar Adilbekov by the police. The journalist had a press card and was wearing the "Press" vest. Police seized her phone. "When they dragged me to the police car, they injured my finger, broke my nails and pulled out some hair," Akayeva said. She was held at the police station for about half an hour, forced to sign an explanatory note, then released, claiming that she had been detained "by mistake."
