According to the court decision that came into force, the news agency KazTAG has to pay KZT 318,000 (about USD 700) to VK-Media Publishing Group LLC (Russia) for the violation of exclusive rights of the right holder. The lawsuit was filed in connection with the use of freely available image on the web to illustrate the publication. The plaintiff claims that the photos belong to their author. KazTAG, disagreeing with the claim, reported: on the websites of Kazakhstan, as well as on the websites of the Russian Federation, the photo image is distributed without the indication of the copyright protection mark. The author is not indicated under the photo. On February 22, 2023, the court satisfied the plaintiff’s claims. On May 25, the court decision came into legal force.
