The Almaty Prosecutor’s Office was visited by Almaty residents who had been injured during the January events, taken out of hospitals in pre-trial detention centers, and subjected to severe torture there. While recording an interview in the lobby of the Prosecutor’s Office with one of the victims, a journalist of KazTAG was approached by an employee of the Prosecutor’s Office who asked him to stop filming, arguing that an investigation into the allegations of torture victims was underway. The journalist refused to stop filming, recalling that the officer was obstructing the journalist’s professional activities. Her work was not further obstructed. The Radio Azattyq film crew was not allowed behind the turnstile and the journalists were forced to shoot the video material through the metal handrails.
