Additional information:
The information and analytical portal Orda.kz and the human rights organisation Kazakhstan International Bureau for Human Rights were defendants in a lawsuit to protect the honour, dignity, and business reputation of a private bailiff. The lawsuit was filed in connection with publications about the press conference of two residents of Almaty about forced eviction. The plaintiff asked the court to order the defendants to publish a refutation of defamatory information in social networks, on the website of the Bureau and in the Telegram channel Orda_kz, to recover from both residents of Almaty, who gave the press conference, KZT 1 million each as compensation for moral damage and court costs in the amount of KZT 307,370. On January 16, the court left the claim without consideration due to the plaintiff’s failure to comply with the pre-trial dispute resolution procedure established by law for this category of cases.
