The court sentenced the journalist to 8 years on charges of «treason against the state». The trial was held behind closed doors in the Gomel Regional Court. In February 2021, the journalist of the Belsat TV channel Katsyaryna Andreyeva was sentenced to 2 years in jail on charges of organizing and preparing actions that grossly violate public order (Article 342 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus) — for broadcasting a peaceful protest action on the so-called «Square of Changes» in Minsk. Five months before she was to be released from the colony, she was charged again, this time, under Part 1 of article 356 (treason against the state) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus.
