A police officer standing in a cordon at the site of a large fire in Shymkent demanded the film crew of the Khabar 24 TV channel — journalists Nursultan Abbaz, Katerina Popkova, and cameraman Samat Kazanbayev — to leave. The policeman then pushed Nursultan Abbaz. The film crew collected video material for the story without going through the cordon. The media representatives had to contact the head of the Department of Emergency Situations and the head of the Department of Internal Affairs of the Al-Farabi district of Shymkent, after which they were able to continue their work.
