It has become known that blogger Karolina Kononovich has been detained and subjected to criminal prosecution. In 2020, she covered her participation in the protests on social media. For more than two years, Kononovich lived in Amsterdam, but on 11 June 2025, upon returning to Belarus, she was detained at the border. A criminal case was opened against her under Part 1 of Article 342 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus (organisation and preparation of actions that grossly violate public order, or active participation in them). She spent 104 days in custody. On 26 September 2025, the young woman was convicted. The court sentenced her to two and a half years of so-called “home chemistry” (a form of home confinement). After this, Kononovich was forced to flee Belarus.
