Tatar activist Karim Yamadayev, who was previously convicted under Article 205.2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (public calls to carry out terrorist activities, public justification of terrorism or propaganda of terrorism), has left the country. According to the human rights project Network Freedoms, he was granted the status of a political asylum seeker in France. Human rights activists noted that in September 2021, Yamadayev was forcibly put into a black minibus, had a bag put over his head, and was threatened with a new case if he did not give up the idea of filing a complaint with the European Court of Human Rights over his case.
