Rosfinmonitoring has added journalist and LGBT activist Karen Shainyan to the list of «extremists and terrorists». As a rule, the list includes persons involved in «extremist» and «terrorist» criminal cases. Shainyan does not know what criminal case has been brought against him. The journalist has been running a YouTube channel since 2020, where he publishes interviews with openly LGBT representatives, reports on relocants, the war in Ukraine, and political activists. Since 2022, he has been cooperating with the German TV channel OstWest. In April 2022, the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation included Shainyan in the register of «foreign agents».
