The journalist said on his Facebook page that a criminal case was brought against him under Article 119 (Petty hooliganism). The journalist believes that the reason for this was his post on social networks criticizing the authorities. Earlier, police officers were looking for him in his home in Balykchy, where his relatives live. The journalist suggested that this way, «they are trying to put pressure on him». In March 2021, Kanimetov was called for interrogation, where he was threatened with bringing a criminal case against him.
