A court in Baku has satisfied the claim of the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport of Azerbaijan to block access to the online TV Kanal13, the head of which Aziz Orudzhev is under arrest. In the evening of November 27, police searched Orudzhev’s house. Later, his lawyer said that Orudzhev was detained on charges of unauthorised construction. On November 28, the court arrested Orudzhev for two months. On December 19, Orudzhev was charged with smuggling; the journalist pleaded not guilty. The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Azerbaijan sent a letter to the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport demanding to block Kanal13 as it disseminates «erroneous and discrediting information to officials of various state bodies». Orudzhev’s wife, Lamiya Orudzheva, an employee of Kanal13, said that the editorial staff had not received any official notification about the blocking of the resource.
