Court № 2 of Uralsk, West Kazakhstan Region considered a lawsuit to protect the honour, dignity, and business reputation of entrepreneurs J. and R. Irmenovs against the owner of the newspaper Uralskaya Nedelya, Journalistic Initiative LLP. The reason was the article «Land of Profit» (Uralskaya Nedelya, February 22, 2022) about the legal battle of the Kubley cannery, which challenged the decision of the city Akimat to build high-rise buildings next to industrial premises. The third party in this dispute was the developer company Irmenova IE. The court partially satisfied the claims. The disputed information was declared false and subject to refutation. Moreover, the owner of the media outlet must pay KZT 100,000 to the plaintiffs as compensation for moral damage.
