Ex-police officer Khaidar Zheksenov repeatedly appealed to Court № 2 of Uralsk. He filed a lawsuit for the protection of honor, dignity, and business reputation and compensation for moral damage against the owner of the newspaper Uralskaya Nedelya — Journalist Initiative LLP — and citizen Asel Alkanova. The reason for the lawsuit was the article «I raised this beast myself: the policeman’s wife told how her husband abused her», in which Alkanova tells about the beatings by Zheksenov, to which she was subjected for six years.
