Together with his colleague Natalia Chernikova, Egorov was detained near the Ministry of Internal Affairs Head Office on Petrovka Street, where individual pickets in support of arrested journalist Ilya Azar were being held. Chernikova and Egorov had no press cards but had single-entry passes.
