The blogger Islam Belokiyev was prosecuted under the article on insulting the memory of veterans of the Great Patriotic War (Art. 354.1, Para. 4). The criminal case was initiated because of the video «The Day of Shame» posted on Belokiev's YouTube channel. In this video, the blogger talked about the persecution of Muslims in the Soviet years, deportations, and executions. Belokiyev said that Muslims should abandon the celebration of Victory Day, as «the history of the war for them is connected with deportations and death of ancestors».
