It became known that journalist Iryna Slavnikava, who had been detained for six months under the article «mass riots», was charged with a new offence. Her lawyer found out that Iryna is also charged for «сreation of an extremist formation, as well as a formation whose activities are aimed at the rehabilitation of Nazism, or the leadership of such a formation or its structural subdivision». The article provides for up to 7 years’ imprisonment. On November 3, 2021 — after Slavnikava’s arrest — the Ministry of Internal Affairs declared the independent TV channel Belsat an extremist formation. The journalist had cooperated with the channel in the past, but at the time of detention she was a staff member of TVP (Poland). The Investigative Committee does not provide the media with information about the proceedings against Irina Slavnikava. All the defence lawyers who defended her were obliged to sign a non-disclosure undertaking.
