On 27 November 2025, a search was carried out at the home of Iryna Khalip’s parents. Khalip is a special correspondent for Novaya Gazeta Europe. The search warrant stated that it was being conducted as part of a criminal case initiated by the prosecutor’s office of Novopolotsk under an “extremist-related” article. It was not specified under which exact article the investigation was being conducted. The police also questioned the journalist’s 89-year-old mother. They were interested in Khalip’s whereabouts and her phone number. Khalip is currently living in forced exile.
