Early in the morning, police came to search the homes of employees of the independent news agency BelaPAN. After their apartment was searched, editor-in-chief Irina Levshina was taken to the Investigative Committee for questioning. After her interrogation, she was detained for 72 hours and placed in a temporary detention centre. According to the Investigative Committee, she was detained on suspicion of committing a crime under Part 1 of Article 342 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus (“organising, preparing, or taking part in actions that grossly violate public order”).
