The St. Petersburg City Court sentenced local historian and blogger Dmitry Vitushkin to one year in prison on charges of rehabilitating Nazism (Article 354.1 of the Criminal Code). He was also banned from administering websites for three years. Taking into account the time he spent in custody, he will have to spend one day in a penal colony. Vitushkin was detained on October 12, 2023, and sent to a pre-trial detention center the next day. On April 10, 2024, his preventive measure was softened, and from that moment on, he was prohibited from certain activities. The criminal case was prompted by two comments under a post about the Soviet-Finnish War of 1939-1940 in the VKontakte group "Ingermanlandia", which was administered by Vitushkin.
