Brest Regional Court sentenced Ina Mozhchanka to 3 years of jail in a general regime penal colony. In addition, she must pay a fine of 100 basic amounts (BYN 3,200). Judge Vera Filonik found the journalist guilty under two articles of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus: «insulting a representative of the authorities» (Article 369) and «incitement of racial, national, religious or other social enmity or discord» (Part 1 of Article 130). Ina Mozhchanka was tried for commenting on the «Andrei Zeltzer case». The shootout in a Minsk apartment, which resulted in the death of the IT company employee Andrei Zeltser and KGB officer Dzmitry Fedasiuk, took place on September 28, 2021. Ina reacted to these events on social networks. The next day, she was detained by law enforcement officers. All the time while the investigation was ongoing, she was in custody. Prior to her detention, she worked for the state news agency BelTA.
