The Pruzhany District Court of the Brest Region has recognised as extremist information the social media accounts of Russian journalist and video blogger Ilya Varlamov: the YouTube channel “varlamov” (youtube.com/@varlamov); the Telegram channel “Ilya Varlamov” (t.me/varlamov); the Instagram account “varlamov” (instagram.com/varlamov); the X account “Ilya Varlamov” (x.com/varlamov); and the VKontakte page “Ilya Varlamov” (varlamov.ru). On the basis of the court’s decision, the Ministry of Information of Belarus has added these online resources to the Republican List of Extremist Materials. Under Belarusian law, the distribution and storage of materials deemed extremist entail administrative liability for both publishers and users.
