A judge of the Akmola Regional Court in Kokshetau refused to allow a film crew of Kokshetau Asia — journalist Nurzhan Baimuldin and cameraman Ilya Shakirov — into the courtroom with video equipment and mobile phones. The judge demanded that the portal’s film crew put their equipment in a separate room, citing the fact that the defendant had not consented to the video recording. The journalists considered these demands unlawful, refused to give their equipment, and left the proceedings.
