The Tverskoy District Court of Moscow arrested the journalists of SOTAvision Ilya Makarov and Maksim Litvinchuk for 15 days after they and Moscow resident Svetlana Kaneva attempted to attend a meeting of the Tverskoy District Council of Deputies. Kaneva was arrested for 12 days. The journalists had permits to film the meeting, but they were not allowed in. Then, they called the police, tried to film the meeting through the window, and knocked on the window. When the police arrived, they detained all three of them and drew up reports on petty hooliganism (Article 20.1 of the Code of Administrative Offences of the Russian Federation). According to the law enforcers’ version, the journalists tried to break the windows.
