Businessman Yerkinbek Duskuzhanov filed a lawsuit against blogger and journalist Ilya Barokhovsky to protect the right to his own image (Article 145 of the Civil Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan). The plaintiff’s claim was caused by the use in the film, published on YouTube in 2022, a fragment of an interview with him recorded in 2021. The businessman demanded to «remove the above-mentioned video» with his image from the video hosting. On May 25, as part of the pre-trial mediation process, Barokhovsky refused to remove the film. On May 26, at the stage of accepting the claim for consideration, Duskuzhanov received an application to return the claim with all the attached documents. The court ruled accordingly.
