The blogger, who has been in custody since June 25 on criminal charges of group actions that grossly violate public order, is charged with a more serious crime — preparation of participation in mass riots (Part 2 of Article 293 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus). The punishment under this article is from three to eight years in jail. Ihar Losik pleads not guilty and considers the prosecution politically motivated. In Losik's opinion, the new charges were brought for legal grounds to prolong his term of imprisonment. The six-month deadline on the first charge expires on December 25.
