The police detained the journalist on the evening of August 9, the day of the presidential election, when he was covering a peaceful protest of citizens who disagreed with the preliminary results of the voting. He was taken to the district police department and placed in the detention centre. An administrative report was drawn up on him for alleged petty hooliganism. The journalist was released three days after his detention.
